Paintings Conservation in Disguise

Building Museum

Buildings conservation is an evolutionary process with questions asked on site, testing in the laboratory, and back to the site with new questions. The process of determining first that the building was originally painted brickwork through to the development of a unique cleaning and re-saturation process for this artwork in the weathering environment makes the Building Museum project an exceptionally clear example of how this learning curve works when the goal is conservation of original material, not just "in-kind" replication.
